This guitar is the epitome of elegance and class. It's flashy and attention-grabbing without being gaudy and the classic look isn't one you're likely to get tired of any time soon. The gold hardware that adorns this beauty sits perfectly against the all-black body and the pickguard is a really nice touch. The figuring on the neck for this one is absolutely ridiculous! The back of the neck has some serious flame on the bass side and lots of birdseye figuring on the treble side. It's mesmerizingly beautiful and compliments the heavily birdseye figured maple fretboard perfectly. The look and feel of the roasted maple simply can't be beaten.

Sonically, the guitar is designed to pump out some tight, punchy, and aggressive sounds while still having the versatility to clean up nicely. The pickups are modern-sounding and have moderately high output to them without being a guitar that's exclusively usable for hard rock and metal sounds. It really cleans up quite nicely too and can get some beautiful bluesy, lightly overdriven sounds as well. As a "sideman" guitarist, Mateus needs to be able to cover a wide range of sonic options without having to stop in between every song to change to a different guitar. His new signature Classic S will do that. It can sound like anything from a classic strat (with a bit more punch to it) to something more modern and hot-rodded. There's really nothing you could throw at this guitar that it wouldn't be able to handle.

For a guitar that'll sound as good in your hands as it will look when it's hanging on a stand - This is a pretty surefire way to go.

In 2013 Mateus Asato received his first Suhr Classic Antique. Little did we know at the time, he would go on to become one of the most inspirational and in-demand guitar players in the world today. He has performed with artists such as Tori Kelly and Jesse J, just to name a few.

The Mateus Asato Signature Series is available in two finishes: Gloss Black and Antiqued Shell Pink. Both models feature our Even C Medium neck profile, which is carved from silky-smooth satin-finished Roasted Maple. The Roasted Birdseye Maple fingerboard features our 9″-12″ compound radius and is appointed with 22 stainless steel heavy frets. A Gotoh 510 tremolo, ML single-coils, and Custom Alnico humbucker complete the specs. Each guitar comes with a special laser-engraved neck plate, Mateus’ signature on the back of the headstock, and is delivered in a classy black tolex hardshell case.
