Spector USA represents the attention to detail we've come to really appreciate here at the shop. This Forte looks lean and mean while feeling and sounding absolutely incredible.

The immaculate construction and overall build quality is immediately noticeable. The fretwork is simply perfect and the action is freakishly low with no fret buzzing. Flying up and down the neck is effortless and whether you're grooving down low or exploring the full neck, every position on the neck is comfortable. It has a thin neck design that truly feels effortless to navigate around on. At only 8 lbs, too, along with feeling great to play, it's extremely comfortable and you can play for hours on end without worrying about shoulder or back pain.

Sonically, we went with some active EMG pickups that help really bring out that classic Spector sound. They're tight and very punchy with a beautiful modern tone and they pair really nicely with the Aguilar preamp. It makes for a versatile tone that can stand out in a crowd, or just sit in the background and be fully supportive; all with the simple twist of a few knobs.

We love how versatile the tonal pallet on this bass is, while clearly being built with the hard-rocker in mind. The build quality is absolutely noteworthy and truly phenomenal. A wonderful marriage between a simple design with sophisticated tones, this may very well be the only tool you need in your toolbox.

Manufacturer's Description

The sleek Forte Series represents the essence of the classic Spector design. Each Forte body is handcrafted from select North American Swamp Ash, a tone wood that is revered for its lightweight and resonance. The Swamp Ash body wings are paired with a 3-piece North American Maple neck and 24 fret Pau Ferro fingerboard. This recipe of Maple & Pau Ferro goes back to the early days of Spector and is proven to provide excellent note definition and clarity. When it comes to pickups and electronics, players can choose from a wide variety of products from EMG, Aguilar & Darkglass. Each of these companies offers an array of pickups & pre-amps that are suitable for players of all genres. As for hardware, each Forte instrument features our lightweight locking bridge for solid, long lasting intonation, high-precision tuners and Dunlop strap locks. Forte instruments provide rich, organic tones with plenty of growl on tap.

EMG 35DCX

The EMG 35DCX is a powerful modern sounding humbucker for bass players looking to cut through a big loud mix. The two coils loaded with ceramic bar magnets provide punch and clarity with a crisp top end and plenty of output.

The X series preamp gives the pickup a more dynamic range along with increased headroom while keeping the more traditional string-to-string balance. X series pickups also come with an Active Tone Control (VLPF) designed to roll-off (attenuate) high frequencies, similar to a typical passive tone control. The result is a noiseless pickup with a classic EMG sound that bridges the gap between active and passive.

This extremely versatile pickup gives players a sonic range that covers the cleanest highs right down to the dirtiest, growling lows.
