Player's Perspective

Music Store Live is proud to offer up this Keith Merrow signature 7-string guitar from Schecter.

Everything from the way this guitar looks, to the way it plays and feels, to the way it sounds is just awesome! Aesthetically this axe really has it going on. The burl maple top is beautiful and the blue crimson finishes accentuate the figuring on the top really well. By keeping the neck and the back of the guitar natural, Schecter's also letting you see all of that beautiful wood grain in all its glory. The neck, along with looking great, is a multi-ply design to help with its structural integrity and rigidity. But just to make sure that you don't have to worry about your neck moving on you too much through changes in humidity and temperature, Schecter also included graphite rods in the neck. Not only does it make the neck more stable, but helps eliminate any possible ghost notes or wolf notes that can sometimes exist on a fretboard. Finished off with some great fretwork, you can really dial in some freakishly low action on this guitar. The extended scale length means you can drop-tune, still keep your action low, and you don't have to worry about fret buzzing unless you're hammering away with the strength of 10 men on the strings.

To top off this pretty little package Keith Merrow requested his signature Fishman Fluence pickups to be put into this guitar (of course... since it's his signature guitar) and they sound absolutely awesome! We're huge fans of the Fishman Fluence pickups, in general, here at the store and we really think they're revolutionizing the game. These really are pickups that will give you a wide array of sounds without any extra noise and without any compromise of the quality of the tone. Whether you're going for modern musical applications, a more vintage sound, or want this to sound like a single-coil guitar, this Fluence set delivers all of those in a shockingly convincing and authentic manner. It's almost like the sound you get out of your guitar in a high-end studio with tens of thousands of dollars in mixing and production gear but you get it directly out of the guitar and you can choose between 3 different distinct and musical voices. You've got a medium output setting for when you need to shred hard. That's Keith's main setting/voice that he uses. There's also low output PAF-like voicing that provides a different vibe. The third voice gives your guitar a genuine single-coil sound with that crystal clear and glassy top-end but without any of the hum and noise.

This is a guitar that can really cover a ton of ground. Great for the gigging musician that needs to have a variety of arrows in their quiver. Now you just need to take this one guitar with you and it's as if you just took 3 different axes to the gig.

Special Features

With almost 62,000 Facebook followers and another 83,000 subscribers on YouTube, Keith Merrow is a visionary guitarist for the new world. With his credibility, passion, and a keen ear for the nuances that make the difference between good and great sound, Keith knows what he wants from a pickup, and how he wants it to feel under his fingers. As a passive pickup player, Keith has become accustomed to the bold way that a passive pickup responds to the initial pick attack. This, when combined with Fluence’s up-front dynamics and extended frequency response allowed Keith to finally voice a pickup free of the limitations of traditional pickup designs.
