Paul Reed Smith PRS Private Stock Custom 24 Piezo Spalted Maple Guitar

Music Store Live is proud to offer up another unique and beautiful creation from our friends over at the Paul Reed Smith Private Stock department. There's never any question as to the quality of the instrument you're getting when you get any PRS guitar. But there's something magical with these Private Stocks and, at the end of the day, they're unique and simply unlike any other PRS guitar out there.

We hand-selected all of the woods used for this guitar and we love the way it all came together. The heavily figured spalted maple top is a thing of beauty. The other tonewoods are beautiful black limba for the body and the neck and ebony for the fretboard. It sports some of our favorite pickups that PRS offers. They call them their "metal" pickups but we don't necessarily agree with that title. It's a bit overwound compared to their other offerings, sure, but it's still incredibly versatile and sounds great even when played clean. Of course, it can also handle distortion and high gain with ease and sounds nice and punchy. You can definitely rock hard on this and retain all of the articulation you need in your notes. To make this even cooler, we had PRS add a piezo in there which you can use on its own to get some acoustic-like sounds or blend it in with the magnetic pickups for some really awesome soundscaping. The control layout is similar to a Custom 24-08 with individual mini-toggles to coil-split each pickup but it also has a 5-way pickup selector. This will allow for not only a wide array of tones but lets you quickly swap back and forth between the configuration you need with ease.

We loved the idea of keeping this guitar as natural or oganic as possible so everything that could be made out of wood, we had PRS do so. The fretboard inlays are spalted maple. The binding on the body, the fretboard, and the headstock is spalted maple. The private stock eagle and control cover on the headstock are also spalted maple. The control knobs and the tuner buttons are made out of mun ebony. And even the pickup rings are made out of ebony. Another true masterpiece from the PRS Private Stock team!
