When you combine Santana's ears and hands with PRS's impeccable craftsmanship, the results redefine what good sound and playability are supposed to mean. The neck is round, fat, and very comfortable everywhere with easy upper fret access faciliated by the body shape's deep cutaways. Equipped with "Santana" pickups that are exclusive to this instrument, this guitar has creamy, articulate tone that brings out even the most minute subtleties of the player's hands.

Nailing the unique singing overdrive of "Black Magic Woman" and "Smooth" has never been easier, as the distinct vocal-like midrange character that's unmistakably present in all of Santana's guitar recordings is immediately evident with these pickups. Single-note lines breathe in a very unique way on both clean and distorted settings.

Carlos Santana's longstanding creative partnership with Paul Reed Smith has done much to shape the destiny of PRS Guitars. Over the years, we have honored this pivotal alliance by offering variations of his signature model instrument. The Santana Retro pays homage to the early "Pre-Factory" guitars Paul built for Carlos in the early 1980's. Several unique design elements are reintroduced on this model, including a deeper body carve, original style heel, and the original headstock shape and nut placement. The Santana Retro blends history and modern manufacturing to create a highly musical guitar good enough for the man himself.
