If you were a fan of the old PRS 408, or if you ever felt like the Custom 24 needed even more versatility than it already had, then this guitar has your name all over it! The Custom 24-08 is a hybrid of the flagship Custom 24 model with some of the pickup combinations offered in the 408 - with two individual coil-split mini-toggles, you can achieve literally any combination of humbucking and/or single-coil modes with the TCI pickups.Playability-wise, the Pattern Thin neck shape is lightning fast to maneuver around and definitely allows for some effortless fast runs while not feeling like a toothpick in your hands.
For 2024, PRS has opted to use the TCI pickups from the Paul's Guitar for this model, which adds an unprecedented amount of versatility, balance, and tonal identity to this guitar, as well as standing out even further in the best way from the regular Custom 24. The TCI humbuckers maintain a punchy and focused tone in the neck and bridge positions. Paul himself described them as having all the best qualities of a good P90-style pickup, but without the hum. You can still achieve rich, creamy lead lines and get plenty of bass response, but you'll never have to worry about muddying up the mix.
Also new for 2024, the Phase III tuners have been refreshed with newly-designed "Wing" buttons for nicer cohesion with the bird motif, as well as less weight on the headstock for increased sustain and resonance.
There's a very real thing that can happen when you pick up a guitar that is just so inspiring that it makes you a better player by not only being easier to play, but also by giving you more motivation to pick it up and play it every chance you get. The workhorse Custom 24-08 can easily become one of those instruments for you, as it has for many.
MANUFACTURER'S DESCRIPTION
The Custom 24 is the quintessential PRS guitar, the iconic instrument that started it all back in 1985. The Custom 24-08 keeps many of the foundational specs as the original Custom – maple top, mahogany back and neck, 24 frets, 25” scale length, the PRS patented Gen III tremolo – but adds a new level of versatility with its TCI pickups and intuitive switching system. Featuring two mini-toggle coil-tap switches, the Custom 24- 08 has eight different pickup settings that provide an array of humbucking and single coil tones, including a dual single coil option. For 2024, PRS Guitars is updating the tuning machines on many of our Core guitars. While, aesthetically, our new Wing buttons are designed to echo the 12th fret bird wingspan design, they were first and foremost designed for tonal reasons. Because these buttons are lighter weight than their metal predecessors, they are subtracting less energy from the vibrating strings, thus helping the guitar ring longer and at a more musical note.
