Player's Perspective

As one of PRS's top independent dealers, we often have the privilege of heading out to their factory in Maryland to pick out all of the woods and specifications for a unique and exclusive run of guitars that can only be purchased through our shop!

For the guitarist that wants to absolutely rock out and shred with the best of them, we've designed this guitar just for you! Using Mark Holcomb's limited edition CORE guitar that was released a few years ago as inspiration, this axe is ready to melt faces. The \m/ pickups are high output and hot! You can drench them with any amount of saturation while still retaining articulation, definition, and clarity in your notes. They also hold up very well and sound extremely rich and full when played clean. We stealthed them out with black pickup rings and pole pieces.

The Pattern Thin all-rosewood neck is lightning fast to maneuver on and playability is absolutely off the charts on this one. An all-rosewood neck has got to be one of the best feelings your fretting hand will ever experience! To make it even better, we've decked this out with a Brazilian rosewood fretboard. The holy grail of all tone woods, Brazilian rosewood is only likely to increase in value as it becomes increasingly rare, and we picked out some beautifully figured pieces for this guitar. It's beautiful! The Brazilian veneer on the headstock has a beautiful red hue to it which perfectly fades into the slightly darker, but still heavily figured fretboard with beautiful brown, orange, and red coloration to it.

The swamp ash body adds snappiness to the overall sound while the rich Brazilian fretboard provides a most perfect balance of bass, midrange, and treble to complement the electronics package in this beauty. A rich high-midrange, that is just a bit more pronounced with the Brazilian board, helps to maintain the clarity in every single note, even when heavily distorted or overdriven. Using lightweight swamp ash is going to make this guitar comfortable to plaly for hours and hours on end.

Every vibration is efficiently and effectively transferred from headstock to strap button and everything in between. This has PRS's "metal" pickups in it, but don't let the naming fool you, this is a very versatile guitar that can handle anything you throw at it, though it does have a distinctly modern sound. Be not only seen but also heard with this bad boy! It's jaw-droppingly beautiful, plays like a thoroughbred racehorse or a Formula 1 racecar, and is a truly unique work of art with attributes that would normally require Private Stock pricing to obtain.

Special Features

The Custom 24 is the quintessential PRS guitar. This iconic instrument was the first model that Paul Reed Smith brought to the public at PRS Guitars’ first Winter NAMM show in 1985 and has been a top seller ever since. Played by internationally touring artists, gigging musicians, and aspiring players, the Custom 24 features PRS’s patented Gen III tremolo system and PRS \m/ pickups with volume and tone controls and a 5-way blade switch. The PRS \m/ pickups are great for heavier styles of music and were designed with the metal community in mind. Both the treble and bass \m/ pickups are wound in house at PRS and utilize ceramic magnets for full, powerful and crystal clear tones. Whether used with massive amounts of gain or played clean, \m/ pickups are the perfect tool for the player who wants aggressive and articulate tone.

There are several appointments on this guitar which make this truly exclusive. The following are not available on standard CORE Custom 24 models:
Hand Selected Quilt Maple Top / Swamp Ash Lightweight Body / East Indian Rosewood Neck / !!!! Brazilian Rosewood Fretboard !!!! / Abalone Bird Outline Inlays / \m/ Pickups / Custom River Blue Finish / Smoked Black Hardware

The Custom 24 is the original PRS. Since its introduction, it has offered a unique tonal option for serious players and defined PRS tone and playability.
