ESP LTD GL-256 George Lynch, Distressed 2-Tone Burst
Player's Perspective
"Relic" guitars - guitars that are built to emulate the feel of a worn-in, well played instrument - usually cost a few thousand dollars. This George Lynch signature from ESP LTD is the most inexpensive relic I've come across. The aged finish on the body makes this guitar look like it's been all around the world with a shredder playing it nightly, but the neck is what you'll really respond to. It has that smooth, worn-in feel that guitars usually get only after lifetimes of service, and here's the crazy part: It feels more natural than some relics that cost way more than what you're looking at here. The sound of this axe is hot and articulate - it can do crunch, spank, chime and jangle with equal ease. And for this far south of the 1K mark? Easily one of the best deals going right now.
