Player's Perspective

This Guild F-512 is a lush toned, easy playing 12-string that has broken in nicely and started to open up. If you're not familiar with the 512, it's become the standard by which acoustic 12-strings are judged. The sound is enormous: the big body style accentuates the low end without making it too boomy, and the Indian rosewood back and sides add a complex tonal edge that matches the 12 string's shimmery voice. The neck is heftier than a 6 string, but a smooth fretboard feel and great setup allows for easy playing in every register. This guitar will thrive in a lot of musical landscapes. Open position chords are commanding and full-bodied, but simple single note lines can really liven up a melody or harmony part.

Manufacturer's Description

Famously played by Tom Petty, David Gilmour and Stevie Ray Vaughan, we defined the 12-string sound in the 1960s and these iconic guitars continue to be the most sought after 12-string models today. The F-512, made in Southern California, continues this legacy through a jumbo shape, solid AAA Sitka spruce top and solid Indian rosewood back and sides. Braced with delicate, scalloped Adirondack spruce, this model produces shimmering highs, singing mids and a warm, focused bass response that truly sets it apart. Decorated with Guild’s classic MOP V-block inlays, railroad track fingerboard purfling, and fully bound traditional headstock, players will feel like they are holding a piece of history while starting their own. The F-512 is finished with Nitrocellulose and is available in Natural or Antique Burst with the option of an LR Baggs pickup. Comes in a premium hardshell humidified case.
