Player's Perspective

Music Store Live is proud to offer up this Vintage Custom '59 Strat from the Fender Custom Shop.

When it's a Fender Custom Shop guitar, you know you're getting the best of the best. Built by their best luthiers, you can really feel the immense level of precision and attention to detail in every square inch of this simple beauty. This is really perfect for the player that wants a vintage sound and vintage vibe but still wants some more modern aspects that impact the playability. For example, there's a compound radius fretboard that feels nice and round while you're down in 1st position and it gets slightly flatter as you go up the neck. We're also a fan of the medium vintage frets. They're just slightly larger than traditional vintage ones and make it just a bit easier to get your fingers under the strings for bends.

The sound is wonderfully vintage with beautiful vocal-like clarity to the notes that was characteristic of the strats from this time period. There's plenty of brightness and twang on tap in the bridge and fullness and warmth in the neck. The flash-coat lacquer finish allows the wood to breathe and allows the tone of the guitar to open up and only get better and better over time.

For the player that wants the ultimate vintage strat with immaculate playability, you're going to want to look in this direction.

Manufacturer's Description

1959 was a pivotal year in the annals of Stratocaster history. It was the first year that modern features, such as rosewood fingerboards and the now-iconic 3-Color Sunburst finish made their initial appearance. The Vintage Custom 1959 Stratocaster sports both a slab rosewood fingerboard and a sumptuous chocolate 3-Color Sunburst finish, as well as some other cool and rare features from the Stratocaster's formative years. The flash-coat lacquer finish lets the guitar breathe more freely and organically for singing sustain and warm tone. The neck features a vintage 7.25"-9.5" compound radius, which we found on some rare examples, giving it a unique feel even among vintage-inspired models. It also features medium vintage frets, which are slightly larger than regular vintage and very comfortable to play.

Other features found on this guitar include a 2-piece select alder body, tinted rift-sawn maple neck with '59 "C"-shaped neck profile, 21 medium vintage frets, hand-wound '59 Strat single-coil pickups, 5-way switch, vintage wiring, 3-ply mint green nitrocellulose pickguard, American Vintage synchronized tremolo bridge, bone nut, wing string tree and vintage-style tuning machines.

The Vintage Custom 1959 Stratocaster is the legendary guitar you know and love infused with '59 mojo. Includes a deluxe hardshell case, strap and Certificate of Authenticity.
