So smooth and oh so sweet! Am I talking about the way it feels or the way it sounds? YES, exactly!
Obviously, when it's a Fender Custom Shop guitar, you expect a lot. It's supposed to feel amazing and sound amazing. But yet, there are still some guitar that stop us dead in our tracks. This is most defintely one of those. This is probably the smoothest sounding strat I've ever heard. It still has plenty of brightness and spank on tap, but the Tomattillo pickups really are silky. There's the velvety neck finish. The roasted flame maple neck is beautifully figured, but they went ahead and sanded it down and gave it a perfectly worn-in feel where you'd expect to find it if this guitar had been played for the past 20 or 30 years. It makes for an absolutely fantastic experience gliding up and down the neck. The ability to add in the neck pickup while in the bridge position is another way this guitar achieves an extra lush and silky smooth tone that is simply not possible on a standard Strat. This really is a special guitar.

Sweeter-sounding than its spicy cousin, but still packing authentic Fender tonal flavor, the Limited Edition Roasted Tomatillo Strat Relic is hiding a few special ingredients inside. The trio of Hand-Wound Tomatillo single-coil Stratocaster pickups are crafted using alnico 2 magnets, reproducing what aged, original-era alnico 5 magnets might sound like today. The pickup set includes a RWRP middle pickup to reduce hum, and are tied together with Strat ½-Blender wiring, which lets you blend the neck pickup in to taste when in position one—bridge pickup-only—unlocking sweeter, more flavorful tone. The two-piece body is crafted from alder that was selected for weight and grain, and then roasted to give it a gorgeous aesthetic and stabilize the wood. Crafted from roasted AAAA flame maple, the neck sports a “ ’63 Strat C”-shaped profile that’s comfortable for almost any playing style while the rosewood fingerboard sports a modern 9.5” radius and jumbo frets that will feel familiar to contemporary players.
Other features include 5-way switch, 3-ply Parchment pickguard, vintage-style synchronized tremolo bridge, vintage-style tuning machines with Fender logo, bone nut and wing string tree. Includes deluxe hardshell case, strap and Certificate of Authenticity.
