Music Store Live is proud to offer up this beautiful Fender Custom Shop Strat. When it comes to being handmade from top to bottom, this one checks all the boxes. The guitar was entirely built by one of Fender's top masterbuilders, Greg Fessler. The pickups were handwound by none other than Josefina, herself. If you don't know who she is, Josefina used to work for Leo Fender and learned how to wind pickups directly from him. She is a living legend.
Made by the very best luthiers that Fender has to offer, any piece coming out of their Custom Shop has high expectations. But when it's masterbuilt, the entire instrument is built by one guy. In this case, it's the incredible Greg Fessler. He handbuilt this guitar from top to bottom and it instantly has a magical feeling as soon as it's in your hands. The neck feels absolutely heavenly! It's a V shape that just fits perfectly in your hand down low and the 12" fretboard radius helps making lead lines up high effortless to play. It's hard to put into words just how incredible the guitar feels from top to bottom. It's one of the most perfect builds we've ever come across. The expectations were already very high for this and it still managed to exceed them.
As for the tone, well, as I mentioned, these have Josefina handwound pickups. They're Fat 60's which gets more of that SRV kind of tone. They're classic and vintage through and through with just a touch of extra body to them. They are very dynamically responsive and have an airy and vocal-like top end. They have a beautiful shimmer to them while still being punchy and full in the bass response. The neck pickup is rich and warm, the middle gives you some great twang and spank to it, while the bridge is bright and cutting without being shrill.
The guitar was built by a master. The pickups were handwound by a true legend... The result is just as amazing as you'd expect it to be.
