PLAYER'S PERSPECTIVE

It's always a treat to get a beautiful USA-made ESP into the shop. Built in ESP's USA factory right here in California, these instruments are top-of-the-line instruments on par with their renowned, artisan-made Japanese Custom Shop guitars. This stunning M-I DX in a stunning Black Cherry Sunburst finish is a great example of both ESP USA's quality as well as ESP's legendary design ethos!

The M-I exemplifies what ESP has come to be known for - the no-nonsense Superstrat capable of tearing heads off with both its tone and its looks. The striking finish and reverse headstock complement each other well with both beauty and aggressiveness, and the black hardware provides a nice contrast.

The workmanship is flawless as you've come to expect from an ESP of this caliber, including the beautifully-done stainless steel frets that make fretting and bending feel effortless. The neck shape itself is a nice middle-ground of "modern thin" whilst still having enough volume to wrap your hand around. All kinds of legato can be pulled off with minimal effort and expressive vibrato is always at your fingertips.

This guitar features a single Seymour Duncan Saturday Night Special pickup in the bridge position. It's intended to capture that 70s/80s rock tone - think somewhat in the ballpark of Van Halen - and does so amazingly. It's not necessarily super hot, but just a little more overwound than vintage PAFs - just enough to scream and hold up awesomely under higher gain settings for hard rock and metal whilst retaining clarity to play classic rock and blues with lower gain. The versatility is even further increased with the coil-split for even some country twang clean tones.

For the discerning player looking for a world-class guitar that has the quintessential ESP look and is a fully capable hard rock workhorse, the M-I DX is an awesome choice!

MANUFACTURER'S DESCRIPTION

Take one of the world’s most respected shred guitars, and then take it up a notch with Made in USA build quality and a distinctively cool finish, and you’ve got the USA M-I DX. Built with bolt-on construction at 25.5”’ scale, it offers a flat-top mahogany body with a maple top paired to an extra thin U-shaped quarter-sawn three-piece maple neck with natural satin finish for the smoothest and fastest playing experience imaginable. It also has an ebony fingerboard with deluxe mother-of-pearl offset block inlays and 24 extra-jumbo Jescar stainless steel frets.

The parts and components on the USA M-I DX are second to none, and include Gotoh Magnum Lock tuners, a recessed TonePros locking TOM bridge with string-thru-body design for excellent sustain and resonance or a Floyd Rose Original tremolo for supreme tuning stability, Dunlop Straplok buttons, and a bone nut. Its streamlined design provides a single direct-mount pickup in the bridge position.

The USA M-I DX includes a custom ESP USA form-fitting hardshell case, and an official Certificate of Authenticity from ESP.
