Catalinbread SFX Tap External Tap Tempo for Soft Focus Deluxe & Tap Tempo Pedals
Manufacturer's Description
Hi! You’ve just dramatically expanded the capabilities of your Soft Focus DLX! You can use the SFX Tap to control your Soft Focus DLX and/or another pedal that might require a tap tempo.
To connect to the Soft Focus DLX: Using a TRS (two stripes) cable, connect the SFX Tap to the Soft Focus DLX using the jack labeled “DLX” on the Tap, to the EXP/TAP jack on the Soft Focus DLX. Plugging in the SFX Tap will take over the "Time" knob and simulate an expression pedal that is tuned to the BPM of your tapping. Program 6 hijacks the expression jack for a volume swell effect and tap tempo will not behave as expected, therefore tap tempo is not recommended when using this program.
To connect to another pedal’s tap input: Connect the jack marked “TAP” to your other pedal’s tap tempo jack using a standard TS (one stripe) cable. The SFX Tap uses a normally-open switch for maximum compatibility so please make sure your device uses this type of configuration.
To use both: Follow the above instructions and use the SFX Tap as a master clock for both effects!
The SFX Tap runs on the operating voltage of the Soft Focus DLX and requires no external power.
CONTROLS
- TAP: This is where you plug a 1/4” TRS cable when connecting to non-Soft Focus Deluxe pedals. They must be pedals expecting a normally open tap tempo device (check your manual). The SFX Tap will not work with Boss pedals, for example. Please also note that the LED indicator will not illuminate when using the CB Tap with non-Soft Focus Deluxe pedals.
- DLX: This is where you plug a 1/4” TRS cable when connecting to the Soft Focus Deluxe. The other end of the TRS cable goes into the expression output of the Soft Focus Deluxe.
