Player's Perspective
Every single one of the guitars that we've received from the Anderson shop has left everyone in our store speechless and stunned, and this breathtaking L'il Angel in a stunning Blue WakeSurf is not only no exception, but one of the best we've seen. This one was custom-ordered and features a uniquely figured quilt maple top that combines with the gradient WakeSurf to evoke vivid imagery of waves along the coast.
To start things off, this Angel variant is a 24.75" scale version for players wanting a slinkier feel and beefier lows out of a Superstrat.
This guitar certainly gives you a lot to look at before you ever even plug it in. Along with the gorgeous top, a beautiful mahogany back, a dark rosewood fingerboard and a heavily-roasted Chocolate Maple neck provide a striking contrast. The custom color blue Anderson headstock decal is a nice touch that blends nicely with the top.
The playability is out of this world! Anderson's even taper neck feels incredible in any position. It's a smooth and gradual taper, as the name implies, and whether you're strumming big, fat chords down low or ripping leads up high, it's perfectly comfortable throughout. The Even Taper neck is thin but doesn't feel like a toothpick in your hands, and the carve on it is just divine with that magical heel joint that is nothing short of perfection. The fretwork is immaculate and the action, right out of the box, was set really low with absolutely no fret buzzing to speak of. The ease of playability will slap a smile on your face that you just can't shake.
Tonally, this guitar carries several usable options without being overly complicated. Just like the Superstrats of the 1980s, this guitar is equipped with dual humbuckers - a HC1+ in the neck, which has some "PAF" vibes with an extra shot of modern clarity and mid-push, and an HC3+ in the bridge, the hottest humbucker in Anderson's HC series that drives your amp in a very musical way. This set allows you to rock hard like a guitar of this style is supposed to, while staying dynamic and musical enough to handle a wide variety of genres. We particularly love how the HC1+ sounds in the neck due to the 24-fret placement - it has a very vocal-like quality, especially with some overdrive.
This is another prime example of the meticulous attention to detail that goes into the building of each and every guitar that Mr. Tom Anderson puts his name on! It may sound cliche, but the pictures here really don't do this one justice. It's truly even more stunning in person.

No pickup ring styling enables the neck pickup to nestle nearer the 24th harmonic for the richest “24” neck tone obtainable. Lush.
