Music Store Live is proud to offer up this Martin GP Custom Shop guitar. The katalox fretboard and padauk back and sides are not only attention-grabbing, but of course, the guitar sounds absolutely incredible.
The Grand Performance body shape was added back in 2010 to Martin's lineup and it falls pretty much right between their OM and their Dreadnought shapes. It's comfortable to play while also being very full-bodied in sound. It's actually very similar to Taylor's Size 14 acoustic guitar, for any that might be familiar with that. But, of course, Martin has a distinct feel and sound that have made their guitars so special for so long. And when it's a custom build, you know you've got a true one-of-a-kind special guitar. The feel is absolutely exquisite.
The unique tonewoods used here are bright and snappy while still being full and loud. The katalox fretboard and figured padauk back and sides are nicely complemented by the western red cedar top. The katalox has a similar tone to ebony and padauk is similar to maple with maybe a bit more warmth to it, overall. It's a guitar that can handle hard strumming but is also dynamic enough for fingerstyle playing. It leans toward the brighter side of the tonal spectrum without being shrill or piercing. It'll sound great played solo and will also cut through nicely in a band setting.
This isn't just any Martin acoustic guitar. It's built by Martin's top luthiers to really stand out from the crowd. Silky smooth feel along with a bright, loud, and attention-grabbing tone to match the stand-out aesthetics.
