Whenever someone says Ibanez RGs are only for shred and metal, we usually like to argue that they're far more versatile than that, but this RGT1270PB happens to lean heavily into that concept. This brutal-looking poplar burl-topped monster of an axe in a stunning Deep Twilight Flat finish and striking Cosmo Black hardware cranks out metal tones for days and possesses a similarly-fitting hard-edged look. The Neck-Thru construction of this guitar, which is unique for an RG, also makes it a little more synonymous with other popular metal-associated axes, whilst increasing sustain.

At the heart of the guitar is the tried-and-true Air Norton, True Velvet, and Tone Zone DiMarzio set of pickups that Ibanez tends to use on their RGs ranging from Premium to J. Custom, and for good reason - the combination of warmth and clarity in the Air Norton neck, the spankiness of the True Velvet, and the power and punch of the Tone Zone can cover any genre from jazz to death metal.

Ibanez is also really stepping up their game for the Premium series with a genuine Edge double-locking tremolo and stainless steel frets, features usually only seen on the Prestige line.
