As proud Mayones dealers, we're honored to present this 40th Anniversary Regius 6 in a stunning custom multi-color finish that's reminiscent of an aurora borealis ("Northern Lights"). As the title implies, this guitar is part of a run of very special instruments built in celebration of 4 decades of Mayones axes. Like all Regius guitars, this axe provides an excellent balance between classic design and modern tone. This one features a unique combination of tonewoods: a sassafras body with a gorgeous 5A quilt maple top that the custom finish really brings out.

The 11-ply neck feels absolutely amazing with a certain earthiness to the touch that feels like an extension of your hand, and while it's very slim, it doesn't feel paper-thin either and fills the hand nicely. It features an absolutely incredible snakewood fretboard, which is truly striking to look at and has a multi-dimensional quality to it. The fretwork is spectacular, allowing for nice low action all the way up and down. 

The custom-wound, Mayones-exclusive Bare Knuckle TKO pickup set is awesome! While definitely designed for high-gain chug, they surprised the players here at the shop with their awesome clarity on lower-gain settings, especially with the coil-split on the volume control. Of course, the TKOs excelled the most at  aggressive distorted riffage, and we were very pleased with how both single notes and chords sounded huge without getting muddy. Load up all the saturation and distortion you want without ever worrying that your sound is going to get muddy or lose definition.

The combination of the tonewoods used, incredible build quality, and the custom-made pickups make this check all the boxes, as a top-of-the-line custom instrument should. 

If you need to melt faces, it doesn't get much better than a Mayones guitar. This one is unique, limited, and amazing - the perfect axe to represent the brand on its 40th Anniversary.

Bare Knuckle TKO Pickups:

These pickups are specifically designed for Mayones. They are high output and each set is custom wound for the specific model that it's going into. 

“Mayones and Bare Knuckle have a strong relationship going back many years so I was honoured when Dawid and his team asked me to design a custom humbucker set specifically for their guitars.

The brief was to create a bridge and neck humbucker set voiced to reflect the playing styles of Mayones players and for the optimum translation of tone from these amazing guitars.

Dawid sent over a Duvell and a Regius for me to use in R&D and over the course of several weeks the concept of the ‘TKO’ humbuckers was borne.

A lot of Mayones customers play progressive, technical styles of rock so I decided to use a combination of ceramic powered bridge humbucker and Alnico V powered neck humbucker. This produces an excellent combination of power and range of tone, producing 3 very distinct tones from bridge, bridge/neck and neck selections on the pickup selector.

Mayones guitars are extremely resonant due to the choice of premium timbers and construction methods and it was important that the pickups capitalised on this naturally rich, percussive tone. 

The ‘TKO’ bridge has plenty of output, bass notes track very quickly, mid range is punchy and highs sound full with plenty of weight behind each note. Neck tones are clean and open with a woody snap and great balance of output with the bridge.

Mid position split coil tone is very tight and percussive with a very clear cut in the highs.
