Decked out with Aguilar pickups, this bass has powerful electronics that provide a wealth of versatility with a relatively simple control layout. The pickups are modern and hi-fi sounding and there's a lot of character to them. The double coils help to keep the tone full if you solo the bridge pickup. With all the preamp controls flat and both pickups on the tone is extremely tight, punchy, and growly. But really that's just a starting point. The onboard Mayo preamp allows you to either mellow your sound out, scoop it for some slap, or make it more aggressive in the mid-range, for example, without ever having to turn around to touch your amp. It also sounds great run in passive mode to get a bit more of a vintage tone.
