Player's Perspective

It's a match made in hell - Slayer member, Exodus member, metal master and badass extraordinaire Gary Holt is one of the latest additions to the ESP family. His new signature models are souped up but straightforward instruments based on ESP's popular Eclipse design. This is the LTD-600 model, and it sports a lot of the same specs as the super decked out (and much more expensive) ESP model. The sound is rich, raw and unrelenting but always well balanced across the EQ spectrum. The low end is particularly delicious (probably thanks to a nice piece of mahogany and the singlecut design), but the high end can really scream as well. I love the feel of this axe - bends, vibratos, and crazy fretwork up high come out smoothly and musically. The build quality is off the charts and the fretwork is incredible. In fact, Gary himself has been using LTD series Eclipse models on recent tours and in the studio. An ideal lifelong metal guitar for right around the 1K mark.

Special Features

This design of this axe is simple but effective. There's really no way to fake what happens to heavy tone when you throw a nice thick hunk of mahogany into the mix, which is why Gary opted for it as the body and neck wood. The low end is rich and tight and the highs have a way of cutting through without piercing. Electronically, this guitar sport the same pickups as its multi-thousand dollar older cousin: an EMG 81 in the bridge and an EMG 89 in the neck, both red. The Floyd Rose bridge is reliable and easy to use.
