The HSS configuration allows you to get silent single-coil tones while also having a beefy bridge humbucker to handle the heavy-distortion stuff with ease. A push/push 20 dB boost on the volume knob helps you kick the gain up even more when you need to really get nasty with it or if you need a bit of a volume boost to stand out during a section of a song.

Behold the autographed Luke II BFR. This is a beautifully crafted alder body with mahogany tone block and black burl top. The tops are laboriously selected from the finest available with the most dramatic figuring on the top that the Ball family could find.
The Luke III features an alder body, hard rock roasted flame maple neck with East Indian Rosewood fingerboard. The LIII is powered by Dimarzio transitions passive humbuckers and custom voiced single coil pickups. Smooth action Music Man floating vintage tremolo, 5-way pickup selector and 20db active boost give the Luke 3 a variety of tonal combinations suitable for any musical style. The new Luke III Ball Family Reserve is the next evolution in the design process started with the original Luke model some 22 years prior. Addressing Steve’s performance needs as a touring guitarist has been critical in the development of this new edition. The added mahogany tone block, on-board 20db boost, beautifully figured A++ burl maple top and roasted flame maple neck have refined this new signature edition into an instrument of superior tone and versatility.
Steve Lukather, the guitarist best known for his work with the rock band Toto, has been setting the bar higher and higher over the years with his own blistering style of rock fusion, not to mention his impressive work in the studio. He's been a long time endorser of Ernie Ball Music Man guitars, and his signature axes are no different from the ones he wields on stage. So what does that mean for you?
